Mastercard and Global Hotel Alliance Sign Multi-Market Agreement to Boost Luxury Travel

Mastercard and the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA), one of the world’s largest alliances of independent hotel brands, have signed a multimarket agreement to introduce a co-branded card designed to elevate the travel and hospitality experience for discerning travelers. The partnership will be tailored to the unique needs of affluent cardholders, with a wide choice of accommodation plans and exciting rewards.

According to Mastercard’s Affluent Travel Report, 34% of affluent travelers in MENA are users of loyalty programs and membership cards, and more than half of affluent travelers say they are looking for more meaningful experiences beyond shopping and souvenirs. With this partnership, Mastercard and GHA will create more personalized and enriching travel experiences for cardholders in the UAE.

The two companies have been working together for many years, since 2015, when they introduced an exclusive, fast-track route to elite status in GHA’s award-winning loyalty program: GHA DISCOVERY. This route is available to Mastercard World and World Elite cardholders in the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

GHA is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and represents a collection of 40 brands with more than 800 hotels in 100 countries. The award-winning loyalty program GHA DISCOVERY serves more than 27 million loyalty members worldwide and generated $2.3 billion in revenue and 10 million room nights in 2023.
