Akash Thillankery’s customized jeep seized by police in Malappuram

Kalpetta: Police have seized the jeep in which Akash Thillankery, an accused in the Shuhaib murder case, was driving illegally. The vehicle, which was travelling through Panamaram town, was seized from Malappuram by the Panamaram police on the orders of the Motor Vehicle Department.

The large tyres and additional fittings attached to the vehicle were removed, but the roof was not repaired. Police informed the media that the vehicle will be handed over to the RTO. The Motor Vehicles Department had issued a fine to the owner of the vehicle and blacklisted the vehicle.

Last Sunday, Akash was driving through Wayanad in the modified jeep and videos of the jeep driving through Panamaram were shared on social media. Based on these footages, a case was registered. The Supreme Court, which intervened in the case, directed the police to take action.

The RTO has registered a case against the owner of the vehicle, Sulaiman, a resident of Morayur, Malappuram. Nine charges have been filed against him along with a fine of Rs 45,500. The RTO’s investigation has also revealed that Akash does not have a driving license.
